Professor Salman Rawaf is Chair in Public Health Medicine and Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Public Health Education and Training at the Department of Primary Care and Public Health, Imperial College London. He also serves as an Honorary Consultant Physician at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) With formal training in both paediatrics and public health, Professor Rawaf has held numerous senior leadership roles over a distinguished career spanning decades in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS). For 26 years, he served as an Executive Director—including positions as County Medical Adviser, Medical Director, and Director of Public Health. Notably, for 23 of those years, he was the Executive Director of Health in South-West London, where he held comprehensive responsibility for the health and wellbeing of the local population across NHS and non-NHS services. In 2009, Professor Rawaf joined Imperial College London, where he continues to lead the WHO Collaborating Centre, working across several WHO regions and supporting member states in strengthening health systems, building capacity, and developing health services and medical education. Internationally renowned, Professor Rawaf has made significant contributions to global health, primary care, and health systems development. His work includes advising governments and WHO, leading major health system reviews, designing national health services, and developing education and training programmes across numerous countries. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London), a Fellow of the UK Faculty of Public Health, and a Member of the Faculty of Public Health Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland. He serves on multiple national and international advisory boards and has led or contributed to a wide array of strategic projects aimed at improving health outcomes globally. An accomplished academic, Professor Rawaf has published more than 400 peer-reviewed scientific papers, five books, and numerous international reports. His academic impact is reflected in an h-index exceeding 110. In recognition of his pioneering work in health services, research, and medical education, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015, and recently was elected to the prestigious Academia Europaea. In addition to his academic and advisory roles, he currently serves as President of the Arab Public Health Association, President of the International Association of Medical Colleges, and President of the International Society of Health Education.

Mohammad Jalili (MD) is Full Professor of Emergency Medicine, Co-founder and Director of Health Professions Education Research Center, and Co-founder of Prehospital and Hospital Emergency Research Center, Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), Iran. Dr. Jalili also holds a second affiliation to the Medical Education Department, where he has been teaching and also has been involved with the establishment of several educational programs including a PhD program in Medical Education. Mohammad has worked in different academic positions including Director of the Emergency Medicine Department. He also served as the Director of the Education Development Center from 2009-2011. He then served as the Vice-Chancellor for Education of TUMS from 2011-2018. Since 2021, he is an elected member of TUMS Supreme Council. He is an elected member of National Academy of Medical Sciences, Iran since 2014. Mohammad is a Member of the National Examination Board for Emergency Medicine, the MOHME- Iran since 2010. Dr. Jalili is the Editor-in-Chief of Frontiers in Emergency Medicine. A physician by training, Prof. Jalili has track record research both in emergency medicine and medical education (H Index: 21) in the fields such as clinical competence, educational measurement, emergency services. He has published over 100 peer reviewed journal articles, 5 books, and 4 book chapters. Dr. Jalili has supervised/advised over 30 MD, MSc, and PhD students and specialty residents. He has been an invited keynote speaker in several conferences and global events. Prof. Jalili was awarded several national and university-based awards, including outstanding professor in 2022.

Salah Eldin Kassab, MD, PhD (Physiology), PhD (Medical Education), FAcadMEd Prof. Kassab is a Professor of Physiology and Medical Education, and Associate Dean Academics at the College of Medicine, Gulf Medical University. He is also a Professor of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University, Egypt. Prof. Kassab holds a PhD in Physiology through a joint program between the University of Mississippi (USA) and Suez Canal University (Egypt). He also holds a PhD degree in Health Professions Education from Erasmus University Rotterdam, Netherlands. He has held several positions in academic administration such as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, CMED, Qatar University (2017 to 2020), Chairman of the Department of Medical Education at the Faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University (2013-2016), and Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Chairman of Medical Education Unit at the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences (CMMS), Arabian Gulf University (AGU) in Bahrain (2005 – 2009 and from 2010-2013). He worked also as a Professor of Physiology at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI)-Medical University of Bahrain (2009-2010). Prof Kassab is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Educators. He is also currently on the Executive Committee Board of the Association of Medical Education in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (AMEEMR), the regional body of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). Prof. Kassab served also as a WHO consultant in Medical Education and accreditation in the EMRO region. He is also a member of the Editorial and Advisory Boards of several journals in medical education such as BMC Medical Education, Health Professions Education Journal, and Advances in Medical Education & Practice. He conducted several workshops on different areas of Medical Education in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Yemen, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Tunisia, and Jordan. He published over eighty articles in international peer-reviewed Journals in Medical Physiology and Medical Education.

The Scientific Assistant to the Director of Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf Teaching Hospital, Dr. Mohammed Saeed Abdulzahra, chaired the first scientific session of the Patient Safety Workshop. The workshop, organized by Al-Kafeel Hospital in cooperation with Al-Ameed University and the Health Care Accreditation Council (HCAC) of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, lasted for two days. It was attended by a number of professors and specialists from Jordan, along with medical, nursing, and technical staff working in the health sector. The workshop included a series of awareness and educational lectures.

Dr. Roghayeh Gandomkar is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Medical Education at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. She is actively involved in training and supervising Master’s and PhD students in the field. Her research focuses on applying cognitive and motivational science to enhance learning and performance in HPE, including topics such as self-regulated learning, mindset beliefs, and feedback-seeking behaviors. She is a member of the Accreditation Committee on Undergraduate Medical Education and conducts research on program evaluation and the processes and impacts of accreditation. Dr. Gandomkar is an active member of the international HPE community. She serves on the AMEE Research Committee, is an international member of SDRME, and co-chairs the Accreditation Research Committee of ISAASC. She has published widely in leading journals and has received several national and international awards for her contributions to educational research and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

Dr. Ihsan Mohammed Ajeena, MBChB, MSc, PhD, is a highly respected Iraqi academic and clinician with expertise in Clinical Neurophysiology. With advanced qualifications, he combines teaching, clinical practice, and national-level contributions to medical education accreditation. His work bridges patient care, diagnostic neurophysiology, and the development of Iraq’s medical education system.

Dr Tabassum Zehra is an Assistant Professor at Medical Education and Informatics Department, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Sultan Qaboos University, Oman since September 2024. She is currently spearheading the faculty development activities at the department. Dr Zehra is a medical graduate with PhD in Medical Education from University Ambrosiana, Italy and a Master of Health Professions Education Programme (MHPE) from Aga Khan University (AKU), Pakistan. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK. She holds an extensive experience in Health Professions Education through being associated with the Aga Khan University (AKU) at Department for Educational Development and as Deputy Dean Medical Education at College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). At AKU Dr Zehra led the Master of Health Professions Education Programme (MHPE) as the Programme Director and represented the programme at national and international levels. Furthermore, she held the positions of Director Residents as Educators Programme and Chair Faculty Development Workshops. She received the AKU’s Outstanding Teacher Award for her contributions to the advancement of educational practices. She has been involved in teaching at an international level, is affiliated with Sadiq International Virtual University as an Honorary Faculty. She has presented her work and conducted workshops at International Conferences, including Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE). Dr Zehra has published her scholarly work in peer reviewed national and international journals. She is the co-editor of the book under titled: ‘Global Medical Education in Normal and challenging Times’ by Springer Nature. Prof. Dr. Tarik Ahmed Rashid is Iraq’s first academic to be awarded the status of Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (PFHEA-UK). He is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH), Iraq, where he also serves as the Director of the Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Centre. Prof. Rashid completed his Postdoctoral Fellowship at the School of Computer Science and Informatics, University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland. His research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Nature-Inspired Algorithms, Swarm Intelligence, Computational Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Mining. He is a member of IEEE and the Machine Intelligence Research Labs (MIR Labs). Prof. Rashid has extensive experience in journal editing, serving as an editor and editorial board member, and has been a keynote speaker at numerous international conferences. He has also chaired and served on program committees of various conferences. He has authored and edited more than 200 publications indexed in Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus, including books and chapters with CRC Press, Springer, Elsevier, and IET. Academic Recognitions and Awards Ranked among the Top 4 researchers in Iraq by the number of WoS-indexed publications in engineering research (2019–2023). Listed in Stanford University’s “World’s Top 2% Scientists” for five consecutive years (2021–2025), based on 44 evaluation criteria. Optimization Algorithms Optimization is the process of selecting the best solution from multiple alternatives, such as minimizing cost or maximizing performance. Prof. Rashid’s research focuses on stochastic metaheuristic algorithms, particularly nature-inspired methods effective for solving complex problems where deterministic approaches fail. His team has developed several algorithms: Single-Objective: Fitness Dependent Optimizer (FDO), Artificial Cardiac Conduction System (ACCS), Child Drawing Development Optimization (CDDO), Donkey and Smuggler Optimization (DSO), Ant Nesting Algorithm (ANA), FOX Algorithm (FOX), Learner Performance-Based Behavior (LPB), Goose Algorithm, Lagrange Elementary Optimization (LEO), Shrike Optimization Algorithm (SHOA), Evolutionary Clustering Algorithm Star (ECA*), and Improved Evolutionary Clustering Algorithm Star (iECA*). Multi-Objective: Multi-Objective Fitness Dependent Optimizer (MOFDO), Multi-Objective Learner Performance-Based Behavior (MOLPB), Multi-Objective Ant Nesting Algorithm (MOANA), and Grid Multi-Objective Cat Swarm Optimization (GMOCSO). 2. Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition, Prediction, and Classification His work in machine learning emphasizes hybrid and adaptive algorithms capable of learning efficient feature representations and hierarchies. His team has developed: Artificial Liver Classifier (ALC) – an AI model for specialized medical classification. Foxtsage – an advanced machine learning technique integrating multiple learning paradigms. 3. DNA Computing DNA computing combines biology, computer science, mathematics, chemistry, and physics to exploit the combinatorial properties of DNA for solving computationally intensive problems. Prof. Rashid has advanced this field by developing Evolutionary DNA Algorithms, which enhance standard DNA approaches for shortest path and job scheduling problems, improving both solution quality and cost efficiency.
